As a journalist for more than 20 years and a mom for 13, I've spent a good chunk of my career writing about the intersection of work and home life.

I’ve written a weekly column exploring work-life balance, workplace issues and small business for The Star-Ledger in New Jersey. I've also written about entrepreneurship for Fortune and Fortune Small Business magazines, and about job hunting for the online Wall Street Journal's CareerJournal.com.

I love writing about our everyday struggle to mesh work and family without sacrificing either. My blog is a daily look at the convergence of work, home life and technology. Together, we'll explore how technology can help us—and drive us crazy as we spend precious hours researching, installing and troubleshooting electronics we suddenly can't live and work without.

I'm a typical consumer who has to sort through the marketing noise to decide which electronics our family needs, wants and can afford. As a mom running a household of five (and the sole tech support in my home office), I’m the one who deals with broken printers and unintelligible DVD player instructions. So if I like something and it works, I bet you will too. On Yahoo! Tech, I'll also be writing about what works and what doesn't for my friends, family—and you.

Working from home is often disruptive and disorganized. But it's where I want to be. I love seeing my kids at the end of their school day. I love listening to them play basketball in the driveway. I love that my kids, and their friends, know ours is a house where they are always welcome to play.

I hate listening to my kids argue.

And I hate wasting hours of my busy days on frustrating product setups and IT problems. The good news is, now I get to write about tech problems and research solutions along with you so technology can do what it's supposed to do: Make our work lives run more smoothly and our play time even more fun.
